Pride Group was born as a passion. Not as just another business group that conducts business and goes about things in a general way. It was and is the result of the far sightedness of the late Mr. N K Agarwal. The first furnishing store was furnished in the heart of Mumbai’s commercial centre – Churchgate. Established in 1971, Pride is the country's leading retailer and distributor of world-class soft furnishings. We bring to India fine products that have graced luxurious interiors around the world.
Being surrounded by such vibrancy, one thing was certain – providing personalized service. This was a motto that is inculcated right from the top and Mr. Agarwal especially took this up.
As a result of this business grew and seven years later, Mr. Agarwal decided to strengthen his position in the business and decided to target Nariman Point. He opened his second shop, called “Anokhee” in the Embassy Centre. He got an agency for Modi Carpets and along with furnishings; this line of business grew briskly too. At a time when most of the others concentrated on providing mere on-the-counter offerings, Pride offered the option of selecting furnishings and matching floor coverings.
Our people are our most valuable assets. We have over 150 high-caliber managers and executives who bring in their expertise and knowledge on interiors and design. Additionally, our network of stockists and dealers spans all across India.
This differentiation allowed them to be firmly entrenched in the marketplace. However, Mr. Agarwal’s entrepreneurial instincts did not allow him to rest on his laurels. In conjunction with demand that was increasing by the day, he opened his new store at Hughes road. This new “Pride” catered to old families at Malabar, Cumballa Hill and Carmichael Road, along with the ones on Bhulabhai Desai and Pedder Road.
His legacy is carried out by his sons Arun and Alok and they with their unbridled enthusiasm saw a huge opportunity in the suburban part of Mumbai. They have a state-of-the-art store in Bandra.
